OUR SERVICES / LAND · WATER · DELIVERY

Civil engineering,
connected to construction.

Civil drawings, site servicing, stormwater drainage and project delivery for developers, property owners, contractors and municipal clients in British Columbia. Each assignment begins with your site, development goals and the requirements of the approving authority.

01 / SITE & INFRASTRUCTURE

Civil site design & servicing

Coordinate the ground, access and services that make a site work.

  • Site layouts, grading and earthworks
  • Access and civil road works
  • Storm sewer, sanitary sewer system and water utility servicing coordination
  • Civil plans, profiles, details and quantities
02 / WATER

Stormwater management & drainage

Develop site-specific drainage solutions from catchment to receiving system.

  • Runoff assessment and minor/major drainage
  • Conveyance and overland flow paths
  • Detention, retention and outlet controls
  • Infiltration concepts supported by site evidence
03 / CONSTRUCTION ENVIRONMENT

Erosion & sediment control

Plan and monitor practical measures for changing construction conditions.

  • Site-specific ESC plans and temporary drainage
  • Sediment-control measures
  • Inspection and maintenance criteria
  • Monitoring and compliance documentation
04 / EARTHWORKS

Land development & mine civil support

Civil design and mine-support planning for sand and gravel pits: access, earthworks, soil deposition, drainage and reclamation interfaces.

  • Fill and grading plans, quantities and access
  • Staged earthworks and soil-handling layouts
  • Drainage, ESC and reclamation inputs
  • Coordination with geotechnical and environmental specialists
05 / PROJECT DELIVERY

Project & construction management

Keep technical decisions, costs and site delivery connected.

  • Estimates, quantity takeoffs and tender support
  • Scheduling and cost tracking
  • RFIs, change management and progress documentation
  • Civil field reviews, QA/QC support and closeout
06 / SITE INFORMATION

Survey coordination & septic systems

Coordinate the information and specialist interfaces needed for an appropriate design.

  • Engineering survey information and site measurements
  • Topographic data coordination for civil design
  • Onsite sewerage / septic system assessment, tank selection and design where project-specific competence is established
  • Coordination of soils, groundwater and system requirements

Legal boundary and cadastral surveys are referred to a BC Land Surveyor. Onsite sewerage work is considered through the professional engineering route; BCOSSA training is not ROWP registration.

FROM DEVELOPMENT IDEA TO CIVIL SUBMISSION

Civil support for your next approval.

Rezoning, subdivision & development

Understand civil constraints early: access, site grades, stormwater, servicing and connections to municipal infrastructure. We support the civil component of rezoning, subdivision and development applications and coordinate with your planner, architect and other consultants.

Homes, mixed-use & larger sites

Civil site engineering for residential, commercial and industrial proposals, with scope tailored to project size and complexity. For multi-family and high-rise developments, our role focuses on the site, drainage and servicing interfaces within accepted competence.

Municipal & contractor teams

Civil drawings, road and utility interfaces, estimating, tender support, construction administration and field reviews for defined infrastructure assignments.

Coordinated specialist input

We coordinate civil grades and drainage with landscaping, building and foundation interfaces. Structural and foundation design, geotechnical engineering, landscape architecture and legal surveying are delivered by appropriately qualified specialists under their own scopes.

Development approvals remain the decision of the relevant authority. Our engagement defines the civil deliverables, submission support and review stages required for your site.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Local requirements. Province-wide enquiries.

Based in BC, with experience in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. We welcome enquiries from Vancouver, Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack, as well as the Interior, Vancouver Island and northern BC communities. Availability, site attendance and municipal requirements are confirmed for each project.

PLANNING YOUR PROJECT

Civil engineering questions, answered.

What civil drawings might a development application need?

Depending on the site and municipality, civil drawings may cover site grading, access and road geometry, stormwater drainage, water and sanitary sewer connections, servicing profiles, and erosion and sediment control. ALDER helps define the civil scope for rezoning, subdivision and development submissions, working with your project team and the approving authority.

How do topographic surveys and site geometry inform a design?

Topographic information describes ground elevations and existing features. We coordinate survey inputs and engineering site measurements to develop grades, slopes, road alignments, drainage routes and servicing layouts. Legal boundaries and cadastral surveys require a BC Land Surveyor; specialist surveys are arranged under a suitable separate scope.

Can you help with storm water, drainage and utility servicing?

Our civil scope includes stormwater management, runoff assessment, drainage conveyance, detention and retention concepts, and coordination of water, storm and sanitary services. The design considers site conditions, municipal criteria, available utility records and specialist inputs. Utility coordination and construction-stage support are defined for each engagement.

Do you assess septic tanks and onsite sewerage systems?

We consider onsite sewerage assessment and design through the professional engineering route where project-specific competence is established. A septic tank is one part of a system: soils, groundwater, wastewater flows, treatment and dispersal requirements must also be evaluated. We confirm the required site investigations, specialist input and deliverables before accepting an assignment.

Do you provide mining and mine design services?

ALDER provides defined civil and mine-support services for sand and gravel pits: civil pit layouts, access, drainage, erosion and sediment control, staged earthworks, soil handling, soil deposition and reclamation support. Broader mine design, extraction and processing design require separate competence evidence and qualified specialists. Blasting design, mineral resource estimation and mine plant design are not part of our initial service scope.

What project management and construction support do you provide?

Support can include estimates and quantity takeoffs, tender documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, RFIs, change management, civil field reviews and closeout. The engagement defines our responsibilities and deliverables, with services matched to the project's size, complexity and required expertise.

CLEAR SCOPE. APPROPRIATE EXPERTISE.

The right inputs,
before the next decision.

We identify survey, utility, geotechnical and municipal inputs early, and coordinate qualified specialists where a project requires them. Deliverables, review requirements and construction-stage support are agreed for each engagement.
